KOTA KINABALU (February 24): Director General of the Civil Service Department (PSD), Dato’ Sri Mohd Shafiq Abdullah, has urged civil servants to transform the civil service into a dynamic organization that serves as an enabler, as well as reduce bureaucracy and rigidity.

He said officials should embrace the concept of social capital to enhance cooperation between organizations.

He said officials should embrace a collaborative mindset that emphasizes cooperation to generate ideas, joint implementation of responsibilities and breaking down silos.

Mohd Shafiq said this while meeting heads of federal agencies and departments during his first official working visit to Sabah on Thursday since his appointment as PSD director general on February 10.

“I hope we can make the civil servant a dynamic organization that serves as a facilitator, while reducing bureaucracy and rigidity.

“I also urge all civil servants in Sabah to contribute ideas and energy to ensure that the development of the state is at its best.”

Earlier, Mohd Shafiq paid a courtesy visit to Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor.

Courtesy visits have served to strengthen cooperation and relations between the state and federal public services.

Also present were Federal Secretary of Sabah Dato’ Sarul Bahiyah Haji Abu, Secretary of State Datuk Seri Panglima Safar Untong and PSD Deputy Director General (Development) Dato’ Dr Zulkapli Mohamed.
