Community baby shower draws crowds

review review

Franciscan Health, in partnership with the Montgomery County Health Department, hosted a community baby shower Sept. 10 at the Montgomery County 4-H Fairgrounds that was attended by 81 families.

These families were expecting or had given birth within a year of the date of the event.

The goal of the event was to reach new families and future families and provide them with education, connection to community resources and a baby shower gift. The baby shower brought together 21 community partners.

“We know that many women never experience a baby shower, and this event allowed these families to receive an education on important topics like safe sleep, car seat safety and caring. postpartum depression and walk away with needed items for their children,” said Tristan Kirby, director. Franciscan education of the health community.

The Franciscan Health Foundation, supported by generous donations from local businesses and community members, provided each family with a baby shower gift. These gifts included items needed by growing families, such as portable cribs, high chairs, strollers, and video baby monitors, to name a few. Diapers and wipes were also distributed to all participants.

One mother was especially grateful.

“I just wanted to say a big ‘thank you’ to everyone who helped organize the baby shower,” Layla Isenberg said. “I’m glad I was able to go talk to so many people in the community and ask them to answer some of the questions I had before I had my baby. Also, a big thank you for the gifts that were offered. They will definitely help my family and many others.
