Windham – WILLIMANTIC – Fun Fest at First Congregational Church, 199 Valley St., will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 7.

The festival will include a tag sale, plant sale, crafts, bake sale, thrift stores and a bouncy house, weather permitting. Visit or call 860-423-6827 for more information.

COVENTRY – On Friday, May 6, the Quiet Corner Contra dance will take place at Patriots Park Lodge, 172 Lake St. The dance will take place from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., with an introductory lesson at 7.45 p.m.

Masks are optional and proof of vaccination is required. Covid restrictions apply. Visit for more information. The cost to attend is $12 per adult and $6 per student.

The evening will feature music by Chimney Swift, with dances called out by Steve Holland. A partner is not necessary. The organizers recommend wearing soft-soled shoes, light clothing and bringing a bottle of water. Contact Dennis at [email protected] with any questions.

WILLIMANTIC – Access Community Action Agency is now offering its job training program, Access to Employment, in mobile form at the Willimantic Library. The program focuses on removing barriers to employment for the low-income population of Tolland and Windham counties.

Mobile A2E offers courses focused on career assessment, resume writing, cover letter assistance, and job search assistance.

Mobile Employment Access offers resume assistance at the Willimantic Library. This is a free program available to anyone over the age of 18 residing in one of the county towns of Tolland or Windham.

Sessions will run indefinitely, with classes meeting every other Thursday afternoon from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Anyone interested in applying or learning more about access to employment can visit or contact Sherry Perkins at 860-450-7400, ext. 7457, email sherry. All standard and state-mandated precautions, including social distancing and mask requirements, will be followed.

Skills training includes career exploration, creating and building resumes, writing cover letters, navigating job search engines, how to apply for jobs, and interview techniques. Chromebooks will be provided for use.

COVENTRY – The Coventry Scholarship Foundation, an affiliate of Dollars for Scholars, is announcing two new awards for Coventry students graduating in 2022.

The William Hoffman Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to an entering graduate in the fields of science or education.

The North Coventry Fire Service Scholarship will be awarded to a Coventry graduate pursuing an education in the fire service or a medical field. Visit for more information.
