Covid-19: Angola makes vaccination compulsory for all adults


The Angolan government on Thursday decreed that all employees, public service providers and citizens aged 18 and pregnant women must be vaccinated against Covid-19 before October 14.

After this period, access to public services, restaurants, meetings, activities in confined spaces, educational establishments, shows, cinemas, game rooms, as well as to sports activities will be subject to the presentation of a vaccination certificate. Covid-19 or a negative test. according to the Minister of State and Head of the Presidency.

Mr. Adão de Almeida, who addressed reporters at a press conference, also announced some measures to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

He also announced the closure of the country’s beaches and the ban on access to swimming areas and public swimming pools from October 1 to 31.

Two weeks ago, beaches and swimming pools, closed for two years, were reopened.

Angola recorded 664 new cases of Covid-19 on Thursday, the highest number since the start of the pandemic.


So far, the country, which is under the third pandemic wave, has recorded 57,247 cases of Covid-19, 1,548 deaths and 47,950 recoveries. There are currently 7,749 active cases.
