Masconomet School District Invites School Community to Tri-Town School Union Parent University

For immediate release

BOXFORD – The Masconomet Regional School District and Superintendent Michael Harvey invite the school community to attend this year’s Tri-Town School Union Parent University and gain valuable insight into the education of their children.

Parent University will be held on Saturday 24 September from 8.30am to 12.30pm, at Masconomet Middle/High School, 20 Endicott Road, Boxford.

Parent University presenters will share their insights on topics such as understanding curricular methods and practices, exploring the best supports for social-emotional learning, creating a community of belonging, and prioritizing parental well-being. These discussions will focus on academics, character education, and preparing students for the journey ahead.

The conference will feature two keynote speakers:

  • Internet safety expert Katie Greer will share strategies to enable students, educators and parents to use technology in healthy and safe ways. Greer served as Director of Internet Security for the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office and Intelligence Analyst for the Massachusetts State Police. His work has been featured on national television and in the print media.
  • Social worker Rick Irving will talk about how the school community can recover and regain confidence with a sense of joy. Irving has worked as a clinical social worker for over 40 years in private treatment facilities and in public education. Irving has consulted with school districts and presented workshops in the United States and Europe.

“Families and caregivers of students of all ages will benefit from Parent University,” Superintendent Harvey said. “We hope participants will come away with a better understanding of educational challenges and be able to talk to their children about the important skills that will lead them to success.”

A daycare will be available on site.
