Oneida Businesswomen Win Extra Mile Day Award – Oneida Dispatch

ONEIDA, NY – Mayor Helen Acker presented Oneida businesswomen Stacy Herb-Jones and Lori Petroffski Seef with the Extra Mile Day award during a recent Common Council meeting.

Once a year, the city celebrates “Go the Extra Mile Day”. Extra Mile America is a nonprofit organization that inspires people, organizations, and cities in community service.

The Extra Mile Foundation was created in 2009 by Shawn Anderson. It’s about celebrating the organizations, institutions and individuals who inspire others to live a better life. More than 527 cities in the United States celebrate November 1 as “Extra Mile Day”.

Acker honored both women for their contributions to Oneida. “They do a fantastic job,” she said. “I know they do a lot for the community.”

Acker thanked Herb-Jones, owner of Oneida Office Supply, for his many civic contributions to the city. These include his support for small businesses in Oneida.

“The main thing she does is use social media to promote Oneida Office Supply and other small businesses to promote community solidarity,” Acker said. “She created a map for downtown businesses.

“She offered businesses the opportunity to advertise, free of charge, in her store’s back-to-school promotional bags. Her dad calls her the community cheerleader…and I agree with him.

Herb-Jones helps other agencies and businesses with charities like Adopt A Student, Paws For A Cause, and various community action partnerships. Herb-Jones also uses its store to offer back-to-school vouchers, a Toys-For-Tots drop-off location while providing exceptional customer service.

“She makes sure the children have food and they have clothes. He is a very special person who is close to my heart,” Acker said.

Acker also praised Seef, the owner of Bella Vita Cafe.

“She has a brand new company that everyone knows about and everyone raves about,” Acker said. “One thing comes to mind about him: giving back.”

Seef was born and raised in Oneida and told Acker she has fond memories of the booming businesses all over town.

“As a young adult, I moved around and built a career in retail management,” Seef said. “This move ensured my love of business and shaped the entrepreneur I have become today. Much of my approach to helping my community came directly from these shared experiences.

“Then came a time in my life when I had the opportunity to start something of my own. I knew from the first moment it had to be in Oneida.

One of his goals was to clean up the Oneida Hotel. “I was the butt of teasing for doing this, but that didn’t stop me. It’s a project that I contributed to and I hope I made a difference in the community,” she said. declared.

Seef also receives donations for the Christmas program from Karing Kitchen and the Madison County Department of Social Services for foster and non-care children. She also organizes a can drive for Church on the Rock and merchandise for Wanderers Rest, the stray animal rescue center in the village of Canastota.
