Fall into Socktober at the Hunter Public Library. Bring NEW socks to the library every time the library is open in October. Donations will go to Greene County Community Action in Catskill for distribution to the homeless in Greene County. In addition to new socks, you can donate soap, shampoo, wipes, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, toothpaste, toothbrushes, can openers and microwaveable bowls.

Bring your best carved pumpkin and candle to the Great Pumpkin Walk and Lighting from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on October 9 at Lake Tannersville. Registration at 7 p.m., lighting at 7:30 p.m., prize-giving at 8 p.m. First, second, third and People’s Choice pumpkins prizes. For more information, call 518-858-9094.

Exciting weekend coming to Windham from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 9 and 10 at the Autumn Affair. There will be live music, activities for the kids, craft vendors all along Main Street, a food court and more.

The Lexington City Fire Company Women’s Auxiliary meeting on October 12 has been canceled. The next meeting will be on November 9.

The Greene County Department of Social Services Senior Nutrition Program menu for the week of October 11-15 is as follows: Monday — no meals — the main office and all nutrition sites are closed for Columbus Day ; Tuesday — Marinara Stuffed Shells, Sausage, Pear Cut, Sautéed Mixed Vegetables, Tropical Fruit; Wednesday — Kielbasa (low sodium baked chicken thigh), sauerkraut, corn, baked beans, apple crisp with whipped topping; Thursday — Primavera Shrimp, Penne, Tomatoes and Zucchini, Spinach, Pumpkin Pudding; Friday — Chicken quarters with sauce, mashed potatoes, green beans, fresh fruit. The menu will be the meal that is delivered to all Greene County home meal customers. Anyone over the age of 60 can receive a meal. The suggested donation for each meal is $ 4. Those wishing to receive a meal are required to call the respective location at least one day in advance: Jewett Municipal Building, Route 23C, Jewett, 263-4392; Acra Community Center, Old Road 23B, Cairo, 622-9898; Rivertown Senior Center, 39 Second Street, Athens, 945-2700. If you would like to have lunch at the Robert Antonelli Senior Center in Catskill, please call, at least one day in advance, the Rivertown Senior Center to make a reservation.

There will be a Fall Charity Sale from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on October 15 and 9 a.m. to noon on October 16 at East Jewett United Methodist Church, 2252 Route 23C, East Jewett. Sale of bags $ 4 per bag and the 5th bag is free.

The next Lexington Farmers’ Market will be held on October 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. under the pavilion of the Lexington Municipal Building. The Lexington Historical Society will be holding a bake sale at the Farmers Market.

Doesn’t a roast pork dinner with homemade pies sound delicious to you? Well, the Kaaterskill UMC is hosting this free will offering dinner from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on October 19 at the Tannersville Rescue Squad Building, take-out only.

Lanesville UMC, Route 214, Lanesville, will be serving a roast beef dinner, $ 15, 4 to 8 p.m. on October 30, take-out only.

The Halloween Spooktacular on Main Street, Village of Tannersville will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on October 31. The 22nd Annual Free Thanksgiving Dinner sponsored by Hope Restoration Church, 117 Route 296, Windham, will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on November 5. Due to COVID restrictions, this will only be take out. Same gourmet chefs and same delicious meals.
