The Findynet Cooperative begins to build a network of trust by strengthening its organization

On August 31, 2022, the Finnish Ministry of Finance awarded the Findynet cooperative a government grant of three million euros to build a pilot environment for a self-sovereign identity network. With the funding, the cooperative initiates the building of the network of trust and strengthens its organization by appointing Mika Huhtamäki as chairman of the board of directors and Markus Hautala as CEO.

The board of directors of the Findynet cooperative has elected Mika Huhtamaki as the new chairman of the board. Huhtamäki has been a board member of The Findynet Cooperative since June 2021. Over the past 15 years, he has built the business of Vastuu Group Oy and serves as the company’s Vice President, Head of Services. identification and MyData activity. Huhtamäki is an innovative pioneer in the development of sustainable data services and commerce, with extensive experience in tax administration, financial supervisory authority solutions and the ecosystem development of personal and business information services based on the law. Huhtamäki is a Certified Board Member (CBM) recognized by the Finnish Chamber of Commerce.

The Findynet Cooperative Board of Directors has appointed Markus Hautala as CEO of the cooperative. With this appointment, Hautala resigned as a member of the cooperative’s board of directors. Hautala has 20 years of experience creating and bringing to market innovative digital services within the financial services and IT industry. Since June 2021, he has served as Chairman of the Board of The Findynet Cooperative. In addition to his role as CEO of the cooperative, he will continue as Head of Digital Identity at Tietoevry.

The Findynet cooperative is developing a common and secure self-sovereign identity network, which can be used to ensure information accuracy in electronic interactions. The network enables connected digital wallets, individuals and organizations to share information about themselves reliably and securely in a variety of situations. The Findynet cooperative comprises nine organizations from the public and private sectors: Finance Finland, Finland Post, Nixu, Nordea Bank, OP Financial Group, Social Insurance Institution of Finland (Kela), Technology Finland, Tietoevry and Vastuu Group.
